This is the third volume following Vol.1/Vol.2 released in 1985 and Vol.3 released in 1986. As in the previous albums, Gidon Kremer and ECM director Manfred Eicher have compiled a collection of recordings of performances by musicians who have participated in the festival over the past three years. The album features music by modern and contemporary composers and modern classical chamber music by ensembles (D2 is solo piano). The music has been remixed by Martin WIeland, who has done excellent engineering work on many ECM albums, and the sound is very beautiful. This album was released on the prestigious Nonesuch label in 1969. Antoinette Vischer, Nelly Bruce, and David Tudor played on this album. Composed based on the concept of juxtaposing computers and the classical harpsichord, the album creates a terrific, chaotic soundscape with a flood of sounds from three harpsichords and computer-controlled electronic sounds randomly emitted from a large number of acoustic tapes. Ben Johnston's work on side B has a history of being rejected by the LaSalle Quartet, but The Composer Quartet took on the challenge and introduced differential sounds to the live instrumental ensemble. The Composer Quartet took on the challenge of playing this work, and Johnston's design of introducing microtones into the live instrumental ensemble is clearly evident in this work. Both of these compositions are historic masterpieces. I feel that this is the starting point of Akiko Yano's current live performances and various works.

A1: ゆめのよる
A2: 小まどから
A3: リンゴ

Jacques Fevrier, Georges Auric
Satie: Oeuvre Pour Piano
Nippon Columbia (Japan) 1975
OW-7608-EV (LP) Obi
sleeve : EX-(Slight fading on the back)
media : VG+/EX+(A1:some light noise due to small scratches.)

This is a selection of Erik Satie's masterpieces released in 1975 from Nippon Columbia's "Classics of Contemporary Music" series, performed by French pianists Jacques Fevrier and Georges Auric. It is also interesting to note the use of electric piano in the second movements of No. 1 and No. 4.

A1: ピアノ協奏曲第1番ニ短調BWV 1052
B2: ピアノ協奏曲第4番イ長調BWV 1055

矢代秋雄
ピアノ協奏曲 / チェロ協奏曲
Denon (Japan) 1980
OW-7849-ND (LP) Obi
sleeve : EX(Slightly faded on back)
media : EX/EX(a slight dust noise)

This is the thirteenth album released in 1980 from the Nippon Columbia/Denon "Music of Contemporary Japan 1500" series by composer Akio Yashiro, featuring two works: the "Piano Concerto" (1967) and the "Cello Concerto" (1960). Both pieces were recorded at Setagaya Kumin Kaikan in 1968. Performed by Hiroko Nakamura (piano), Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi (cello) and NHK Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hiroshi Iwashiro. Of particular note are the two pieces on side B: B1, a clear sound world where marimba/vibraphone/Tibetan bells played by Jun Sugawara, Yasunori Yamaguchi, and Midori Takada echo wetly like raindrops falling from trees, and B2, where the gentle melody of Ko Izumi's wood flute and the lyrical melody of Norio Sato's gut guitar create a gentle ambiance. The sound quality is very good, with high quality cutting by Neuman's SX 68 cutting machine, which was used by CBS/Sony at that time.

A2: Canzona Da Sonare No.1
B1: Ionisation

The Blackearth Percussion Group
The Blackearth Percussion Group
Opus One (US) 1974
Number 22 (LP) Pink label, booklet
sleeve : EX (some very light stains)
media : EX-/EX- (some faint surface noise, a few light pops)

The Blackearth Percussion Group, a percussion group consisting of Garry Kvistad, Richard Kvistad, Allen Otte, and Michael Udow from Northern Illinois University in the United States, released their only album in 1974.
