Toru Takemitsu
In an Autumn Garden
JVC (Japan) 1980
SJX-9548 (LP) w/insert(color-faded.)
sleeve : VG+(stains on back.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly surface noises.)

The work was written in 1973 by Toru Takemitsu, one of Japan's greatest composers, who transcended the boundaries of contemporary music and took on a variety of experimental compositions. It was released in 1980 on the Victor label JVC. As Toru Takemitsu himself says in his commentary, "There is no better medium than Gagaku for considering the issues of time, tempo, and duration, which are closely related to tone color, as well as the spatial transformation of color.” As he said, there is no musical score, and there is no certain regularity like the Western concept of harmony such as beats and old notes. Like the soundtrack to "The Tale of Genji" by Haruomi Hosono, the definition of ambient has long since collapsed, and we are being swallowed up by the heterogeneity of folk/traditional music.
