This album, released in 1979 by Katsutoshi Nagasawa, who joined the PUK Puppet Theatre in the late 1940s, composing and performing music for puppet shows, and became a member of the Nihon Ongaku Shudan (Pro Musica Nipponia) upon its formation in 1964. A1, "Three Spring Pieces," is a three-part duet for shamisen and koto, performed by Tadao Sawai (shamisen) and Kazue Sawai (koto). A2, "Shakuhachi Concerto," features a solo shakuhachi performance by Kohachiro Miyata accompanied by a traditional Japanese orchestra by Ensemble Nipponia. B1, "Nishikigi ni yosete," is a four-part solo for a 20-string koto, performed by Keiko Nosaka. B2, "Three Ballads for Hida," is a three-part ensemble for shakuhachi, 17-string koto, and three kotos. Each piece is characterized by organic music unique to traditional Japanese instruments, beautifully harmonizing with natural environmental sounds.
