Pianist Masaaki Kikuchi, who came to prominence in the late 60s and was active not only in the Japanese jazz scene but also in the U.S., performed with Elvin Jone and Gene Parla on this album released in 1973. The album was recorded in 1972 at Rudy Van Gelder's studio in New Jersey, where Van Gelder also did the recording and cutting engineering. Besides A2, which was composed for Hozan Yamamoto's famous album "Ginkai", all the songs on this album were scored by Kikuchi. This is a masterpiece of spiritual jazz that uses hard bop as its format, but also has a very avant-garde orientation. The original 1st pressing with Van Gelder stamp. The outer sleeve is not in good condition, but the vinyl is fine.
