Issued in 1983, this album stands as an important formative statement of Fuji, the style Barrister helped shape and establish by expanding the chant traditions of Ramadan in Muslim communities, Yoruba oral poetry, praise singing, and percussion ensemble music into a powerful form of urban popular music, much like the following year’s masterpiece Nigeria.
