It was recorded live at the East-West Festival in Nuremberg, Germany, where Shepp performed in a trio with Cameron Brown on bass and Beaver Harris on drums. On A1, Duke Ellington’s “Solitude” is performed with a relaxed groove, and the latter half also features Shepp’s elegant piano playing. The title track on A2 races forward with a light, buoyant groove, while the nearly nineteen-minute session on B1 gives musical expression to a message from his late friend John Coltrane.
