From the delicate touch and gently wavering lyricism heard on the title track, to the quiet intimacy of “My Foolish Heart,” and “Milestones,” the Miles Davis classic where LaFaro’s bass enters the conversation almost like a melodic instrument, the performance captures all three musicians breathing together with the same extraordinary density. It still radiates a very special brilliance.
