It consists entirely of solo double-bass performances, featuring Holland’s original compositions alongside pieces by Anthony Braxton and Miles Davis. Far removed from the kind of difficult solo performance centered primarily on technical display, Holland spins out deeply expressive and delicately melodic lines filled with a genuine sense of song.
