One of the defining voices of Arabic song, Fairuz is heard here in a program split between theatrical works and personally selected favorites. Side A features music from the stage production Return to the Soldiers, performed with Nasri Shamsdine and The Lebanese Group of Folklorik Arts. Side B gathers five of Fairuz’s own favorite selections. All songs were written by the Rahbani Brothers and produced by Sabri Sherif. While Side A offers a wonderful glimpse into the musical theater style that the Rahbani Brothers built together with Fairuz, the real highlight for us is undoubtedly Side B, where her bewitching, deeply expressive vocals can be enjoyed in full.
