Following the 1979 masterpiece Hiki Yomi Gusa, recorded with Ryuichi Sakamoto on synthesizer, and the 1981 album Asobi wo Sento ya Umareken, based on Ryojin Hisho, a collection of songs from the late Heian period, this album was produced by music critic Toyo Nakamura. Alongside Momoyama’s own compositions, the record includes traditional songs and pieces transcribed from Onusa, a collection published during the Edo period.
