Featuring an outstanding lineup of musicians including George Mraz on bass, Grady Tate on drums, Dom Um Romao on drums and percussion, Joe Beck on guitar, and Sal Nistico on saxophone, the album presents a beautifully refined set of crossover arrangements. Centered around Brazilian classics such as Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Wave” and Edu Lobo’s “Casa Forte,” alongside gems including Michael Franks’ signature hit “Antonio’s Song,” Merrill delivers superb vocal performances supported by rich, elegant musicianship throughout. From uplifting numbers to deeply mellow ballads, the entire album is filled with a melting, sophisticated atmosphere.
