A1 opens beautifully with the bass quietly repeating a minimal phrase as cymbals and guitar drift and sway like falling leaves. A2 is an endlessly beautiful duet between Foster’s soprano saxophone and DeJohnette’s piano, while B1 is propelled by DeJohnette’s solid, aggressively driving drumming. The dynamic shifts between stillness and intensity weave the entire album into a single unfolding narrative.
