The quintet features familiar ECM figures Dave Holland on bass, Jack DeJohnette on drums, and John Taylor on piano, joined by Michael Brecker on tenor saxophone. From cool, straight-ahead post-bop and modal jazz to dynamically flowing contemporary jazz and floating pieces imbued with an urban atmosphere, the album covers a wide range while maintaining the fresh, crystalline sound characteristic of ECM throughout. Exceptionally well balanced from beginning to end, this is a thoroughly satisfying and beautifully crafted album.
