Highlights include A1, where DeJohnette’s exceptionally crisp, open drumming drives the music forward as De Wilde’s piano pours out melodies with the refreshing force of a sudden squall; B1, which elevates Herbie Hancock’s score with an orthodox yet deeply expressive approach; and B2, where the groovy rhythm section and thrilling piano interplay are simply superb. Throughout the album, De Wilde’s graceful and agile touch at the keyboard is beautifully showcased.
