This is a solo album released in 1978 by Max Roach, an American drummer who has been active in a wide range of fields from the bop era in the 50's to ethnic groups such as the percussion group M'Boom. This is a Japan-only album released from Baystate Jazz Series, a sub-label of RVC, which released a number of original recordings. The entire album is a drum solo by Roach, and although it does not have an overtly ethnic feel, the superb and powerful drumming is primitively oriented at key points in the performance. Recommended for those who like Toshiyuki Tsuchitori's works from the late 70s and early 80s.
