Using acoustic guitars in alternate tunings, Hedges produces everything from sharp, solid attacks to arpeggios that flow like a river. Alongside his overwhelming technique and superb compositions, the richly detailed, high-fidelity recording allows the full tonal beauty of the guitar to envelop the listening space. It is every bit as wonderful as his second album, *Aerial Boundaries*, featured in the guidebook *obscure sound*. Like Steve Tibbetts, Hedges reminds us just how extraordinary some of the guitarists emerging from America’s country and folk traditions can be.
