It was recorded live at the Festival des Arts Traditionnels, held in Rennes, France, in 1979. Through a series of solo performances drawing on ceremonial music, dance rhythms, and percussion techniques from across Ghana, the album features A1, based on a ritual rhythm originating in northern Ghana; A2, an interpretation of the northern Ghanaian Bambaya rhythm; and A3, performed on a pair of iron bells used by the Ga people.
