Released in 2014 on JUZU a.k.a. Moochy's Crosspoint label, this 7" single by the Ethiopian-influenced French group Badume's Azmari Band and vocalist Selamnesh Zemene is the first of its kind. Badume's Azmari Band is the Ethiopian orchestra who took seven years for founding after noticing the similarities between the Ethiopian singer's phrasing and the traditional singing of Brittany. It is said that Haile Selassie I, the last emperor of Ethiopia, was so impressed by Japanese enka that he had Ethiopian musicians imitate it after his return to Japan. It's interesting to think about such anecdotes while listening.

A: Bati
B: Sokota
