It was produced by Creed Taylor of CTI. The backing musicians include Chuck Rainey, Bernard Purdie, Warren Smith, Eric Gale, David Spinozza, Howard Johnson, and many others. The recordings were made at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio, with engineering also handled by Van Gelder. The album contains numerous excellent, single-friendly songs that blend soul, R\u0026amp;B, and pop with superb balance, and stands as a masterpiece that fully demonstrates Taylor’s remarkable production skills.
