Tashi Plays Takemitsu
Quatrain II / Water Ways / Waves
RCA (Japan) 1979
RVC-2290 (LP) Master Sound. w/obi, insert(slightly stains, color-faded on some parts).
sleeve : NM-
media : EX/EX-(some slightly surface noises. B1 has some light surface noises caused by two scratches.)

Released in 1979, this masterful album features pianist Peter Serkin and his group Tashi performing a score by Japan's world-famous composer Toru Takemitsu. Side A, 'Quatrain II', is a sequel to 'Quatrain', a score composed in 1975 for a four-piece solo group and orchestra and written for Tashi: B1, 'Water Ways', is dedicated to Peter Serkin and B2, 'Waves', to Richard Stolzman, one of the members of Tashi. The two tracks on the B-side are notable for being part of a series on the theme of "water", which Takemitsu was working on at the time. B1 has an oriental feel with its harp and violin melody, and B2 has an impressive tremolo reminiscent of the sound of the sea. This is a minimal music in the style of Toru Takemitsu.

B1: Water Ways
B2: Waves
