Daisakusen, which employed some of the most advanced analog production technology available at the time, including 76 cm\/sec two-track mastering, 45 rpm cutting using a quartz-locked direct-drive motor and diamond cutting stylus, and heavyweight vinyl. Side A features “Suite on Kyushu Folk Songs,” composed by Yutaka Makino and originally included on The Fascination of Contemporary Japanese Music, an album released in Toshiba Records’ Pro-Use Direct Cutting series. The performance is by Hogaku 4-nin no Kai, consisting of Kazuo Kurosawa (17-string koto), Sumiko Goto (first koto), Mitoko Takahata (second koto), and Kozan Kitahara (shakuhachi). Side B compiles one track each from three albums originally released on Three Blind Mice: the late jazz bassist Isao Suzuki’s 1976 masterpiece Black Orpheus, Yama \u0026amp; Jiro’s Wave’s 1975 album Girl Talk, and the Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio’s 1974 classic Misty.
