ALM Records (Japan) 1981
AL-7003 (LP) w/obi, booklet.
sleeve : EX(some small dirts on front.)

This is an album released in 1981 featuring Izumi Shimura performing piano works by Hikaru Hayashi, a Japanese composer who began composing as a young boy, and who came to prominence in 1950 with the release of "Atomic Bomb View" and has since left behind a vast number of works ranging from orchestral music to film scores. Recorded in June of the same year at Funabashi Shimin Bunka Hall in Chiba Prefecture, the album was recorded and produced by Yukio Kojima, owner of ALM Records. Many of the pieces are arrangements of music composed for theatre, and all but one are titled January through December, evoking each season with a very nice, peaceful, and comforting performance. The last piece, Variations on an Okinawan Folk Song, B4, also has a pentatonic scale that evokes a slight sense of nostalgia. This piece was featured in the Tower Records bonus leaflet of the guidebook "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION.
