CHEE SHIMIZU

Born in Tokyo in 1971 and raised in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture. Currently active as a DJ, music selector, writer, and record producer. Started DJing in Tokyo's underground club scene in 1993. In 2004, he launched the DJ project DISCOSSESSION, introducing Italo Disco Revival and Cosmic Disco to Japan and leading the scene. Around 2007, he advocated for a listening style within DJ culture, which spread both domestically and internationally. He introduced Japanese music from the 70s and 80s, including works by Yasuaki Shimizu and Hiroshi Yoshimura, to an international audience, laying the foundation for their re-evaluation. In 2008, he launched the online record store ORGANIC MUSIC, and in 2019, he opened the physical store, which continues to operate today. His publications include "obscure sound Tougenkyouteki Onban 640-sen" (2013) and "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION" (2020).
