Formed in 1962 in the city of Strasbourg, located along the Rhine River in northeastern France, Les Percussions de Strasbourg has been active for over 60 years and is known for a number of masterpieces, often featuring jacket designs with striking silver prints and black typography. This album, released in 1968, features a performance of "8 Inventions, op. 45" by Czech composer and conductor Miloslav Kabeláč. It begins with a serene movement, gradually building tension through the deep resonance of timpani, sharp pulses of cymbals, and explosive crashes of gongs. The sound, rich in contrast and dramatic tension, awakens the listener's consciousness. This is the Japanese domestic edition, released in 1978 as part of the Audio Clinic series—a high-level cutting record intended for audio testing purposes.
