This is an album released in 1975, featuring the historical masterpiece “November Steps” by Toru Takemitsu, a great Japanese composer who challenged composers with various experimental orientations beyond the boundaries of contemporary music, performed by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Seiji Ozawa. The title piece A1 was commissioned by Takemitsu for the 125th anniversary concert of the New York Philharmonic, and is a double concerto with shakuhachi by Katsuya Yokoyama, biwa by Nishiki Tsuruta, and orchestra; B2 “Green” was commissioned by NHK, and is the second score of “November Steps. B2 “Green” was commissioned by NHK and is the second score of “November Steps”.
