This album was released in 1978 by Kiyoko Takahashi, who started learning folk songs at the age of 8 and has recorded more than 300 songs since her debut at the age of 15 with "Akita Obako Jinku". She has recorded more than 300 songs since her debut with "Obako Jinku" and is currently active as a top female folk song singer. She performs 13 songs in total, including "Mugiya-busi", a folk song from Toyama Prefecture with a unique call to action that leaves a lasting impression on the ears, and "Otemoyan", a famous Kumamoto folk song, as well as folk songs from Tohoku, Kanto, Hokuriku, Shinetsu, Shikoku, and Kyushu regions with her extended and lustrous voice and overwhelming singing ability. The recording is very good, and I highly recommend this album as a good place to start with folk songs.
