This album, released in 1979, contains works by the Japanese composer Akio Yashiro, who passed away in 1976 at the age of 46, having left eight works after 1948. side A is a string quartet in four movements, performed by the Iwamoto Mari String Quartet. Composed between 1954 and 1955 while studying in Paris, it was influenced by French modern music but attempted to capture the spirit of the 'sonata', a pillar of Western music, in its own right; the 'Piano Sonata' on B1 was spiritually influenced by Beethoven's 'Piano Sonata Op. 109' and was composed in 1960. Composed in 1960, it takes the form of a structure based on the opposition of the various themes. The Sonata for two flutes and piano, B2, was composed in 1958 after his return from France, with the joys of the three-instrument ensemble in mind. It is performed on piano by Yashiro himself, who was also an excellent performer, and on flute by Shinya Koide and Ryu Noguchi.
