This album features piano works by Claude Debussey, an impressionistic composer who broke new ground in 20th century music from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. This album is released from the <Studio Neuer Musik> series of Harmonia Mundi, a French label that produces many archival works ranging from classical to folk music. The year of release is unknown, but it is thought to date from the late 60s to the early 70s. The four piano pieces are by the German pianists Alfons and Aloys Kontarsky, two brothers who specialized in performing not only classical music but also many avant-garde pieces. A1 was composed in 1899, B1 in 1901, when Debusy was in his late 30s, A2 in 1914, and B2 in 1915, when he was in his late 50s, and we can feel the change in his style. The late works are still very landscape or impressionistic in style. The booklet is included.

A2: Six Epigraphes Antiques
B2: En Blanc et Noir
