This album was released in 1976 by drummer Andrew Cyrille and his group Maono, who joined the Cecil Taylor Unit in the mid-1960s and supported Taylor's sound for many years afterwards. Quartet with Lisle Atkinson (b,violin), Ted Daniel (tp, fh) and David S. Ware (tes). The three-part suite A1, in which a exotic interplay of reeds and psychedelic trumpet solo via electric dividers dances over a barrage of extremely primitive percussion, and A2, in which the rustic sound of sansa (thumb piano) is pleasant, are the best examples of Avant-ethno jazz that mixes African and cutting-edge thinking.
