This is the first trio album by jazz pianist Andy Lumpp, reed player Hugo Read, and drummer Michael Kutter, released in 1983 on the excellent German jazz label Nabel. All three are jazz musicians active in the 1980s German contemporary jazz scene, including the Christoph Spendel Group, Mnika Lingues Quartet, Klaus Lenz Big Band, Manfred Schoof Orchester, and Quinteto Maria Joao. This album was recorded in a church in Frankfurt, Germany, and features a very simple ensemble in a natural reverb that gives a sense of space. If you like ECM, this is the album for you.
