Brazilian jazz trumpeter Araken Peixoto released his first leader album in 1986 on the prestigious Brazilian jazz label Estudio Eldorado. The album features three jazz pianists, Moacyr Peixoto, Joao Carlos Pegoraro and Moacyr Zware, and Manuel de Paiva Gusmao (b), Jose Ordonez (b), Wilson Bergami (dr) and Adil Andrade de Oliveira (dr). From a trumpet and piano duo to a quartet, they played a variety of music, such as A2, a famous song released in 1966 featuring Quincy Jones' bossa nova, A3, a jazz standard composed by Eden Ahbez known as Exotica, and B5, a famous song by Tom Jobim sung by many artists including Elis Regina. From a trumpet and piano duo to a quartet, the entire album was full of moody jazz with an elegant air. This is a wonderful piece of atmospheric playing with minimal intonation. This is a mature piece with a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere throughout. (Chee)
