An industrial new wave band formed in Sheffield, UK by Stephen Mallinder, Richard H. Kirk, and Chris Watson, Cabaret Voltaire released this album in 1980. It features recordings from a live performance in 1979, recorded by Scott Piring, who worked on early Rough Trade releases as well as with The KLF, The Orb, and Underworld. The album includes tracks from a cassette album they self-released in 1978, showcasing a noisy and avant-garde industrial electronic wave sound that still feels incredibly cool today. The UK scene at the time was a hotbed for fascinating music.
