An album released in 1984 as the 13th installment of the <Contemporaneo> series by the label Egram, which was founded in the wake of the 1964 Cuban Revolution. This series focuses on Cuban composers, and this particular album features the works of a composer named Carlos E. Malcom. Malcom, after working as a pianist and composer for Cuba's Radio and Television Institute (ICRT), toured various countries including Mexico, Jamaica, and Canada. In the late 1980s, while staying in Warsaw, Poland, he had a significant encounter with Iannis Xenakis, which greatly influenced him. In this album, you can listen to some of his notable works, including A1, created in collaboration with a dance ensemble from Ecuador, A2 which employs aleatoric techniques, and A4 where he introduced dodecaphony and serialism. These pieces showcase Malcom's mastery of diverse contemporary music techniques.
