Charles Loos is a Belgian keyboard player who has been active as a member of the fusion group Abraxis and the New Wave band Cos. The trio work "HLM," released in 1986, with Steve Houben and Claude Maurane, was featured in the guidebook "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION." This is his leader album released in 1983. It's a trio featuring Italian bassist Riccardo Del Fra, who also worked as Chet Baker's right-hand man, and drummer Felix Simtaine, who participated in Michel Herr's 1978 masterpiece "Ouverture Eclair." Except for A1, which is a Miles Davis composition, all the tracks are Loos' original scores, showcasing superb contemporary jazz and post-bop with supple, beautiful yet somewhat shadowy melodies. Del Fra's bass playing is also excellent.
