Starting with Ray Draper's group in the 1950s and continuing with elite American trumpeter Clifford Thornton, who collaborated with pioneers of new jazz in the 1960s such as Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Marzette Watts, Dave Burrell, and Sunny Murray, this album was released in 1975. It features collaborations with The Jazz Composer’s Orchestra, formed by Carla Bley and Michael Mantler, and includes numerous jazz musicians such as Carlos Ward, Hannibal Marvin Peterson, Leo Smith, and percussionists like Milton Cardona, who also contributed to American Crave. This masterpiece is a vibrant and energy-filled avant-garde ethno-jazz that fully embraces the emotions of African-inspired folk music. If you're a fan of Don Cherry, this is definitely an album you should listen to. It's the original US pressing, and the outer sleeve bears the signatures of Hannibal and Ted Daniel.
