The album was released in 1975 by Cortijo y su Nuevo Combo, a Puerto Rican group led by percussionist Rafael Antonio Cortijo Verdejo, who had a successful career as a bomba/plena musician before joining Ismael Rivera's orchestra in the 1950s. The album, released in 1975 features his son Rafael Cortijo, his niece Fe Cortijo. The music features traditional Puerto Rican plena, waracha, bomba, bolero, salsa, samba, etc., with warm Latin percussion and pleasing vocals/chorus work. It's a wonderful piece of tropical and colorful Afro-Caribbean music.
