Released in 1981 by Ebenezer Obey, one of the most important figures in Nigerian juju alongside King Sunny Adé, and his group His Inter-Reformers Band. Active since the 1960s, Obey developed a highly distinctive sound, and this album beautifully captures the essence of his celebrated miliki style — an urban, supple, and pleasure-filled approach that blends Yoruba social music with Christian and social messages. Driven by elastic talking-drum rhythms, clean-toned guitars flowing with graceful melodic lines, and warm lead vocals / chorus work, the album unfolds as wonderfully danceable, non-stop music with a deep, rolling groove. A superb example of Obey’s refined juju sound, balancing spiritual uplift, social commentary, and pure dancefloor elegance. Excellent-sounding UK pressing.
