This album was released in 1959 by Eddie Costa, an American pianist who passed away in a car accident in 1962 at the age of 31. He played with Wendell Marshall (b) and Paul Motian (ds). The trio played standard numbers, Gigi Gryce's compositions, and his own original scores. The piano work is very original, rhythmic, and bright. I can see why this is called a masterpiece.　The young Paul Motian, in his late 20s, plays very freshly.
