Friedrich Gulda, a leading Austrian jazz pianist at the forefront of jazz and classical music since the early 50's, performed with Austrian pianist Fritz Pauer and German drummer Klaus Weiss in April 1971 in Germany. It is an unusual composition, a trio with double pianos. Gulda plays acoustic piano and Fritz Pauer electric piano, but Pauer's electric piano takes the role of bass. Klaus Weiss' sophisticated yet primitive and powerful drumming is also astonishing. This album is a twin of "The Call" recorded by Mal Waldron with Jimmy Jackson and others. This is a live performance that will go down in history. This is the original German pressing from MPS BASF.
