French fimele singer Hermine Demoriane, aka Hermine, released her debut mini album in 1982 on Crammed Discs, one of the best Belgian labels run by Marc Hollander, known for Aksak Maboul. The album features good old American popular music such as A2 by lyricist Lew Brown and composer Ray Henderson, B1 by Nick Lowe Compose, B2 by cabaret singer Ruth Wallis, and B3 by Joe Melson and Roy Orbison. The music is loungey and softly sung with simple cello and piano accompaniment, but it also has the avant-garde and experimental design of Crammed Discs. Hermine's vocals, which are simple but somehow touch the heartstrings, are the best. A record to listen to on a Sunday afternoon.
