This album was released in 1971 by Watatsumido-Shuso, a bamboo flute player who established his own style of "Watatsumido" with his unique philosophy and technique, and was highly praised by Toru Takemitsu and ethnomusicologist Fumio Koizumi. Based on the path of "practical philosophy," which expresses a state of being through training the mind, Watatsumido-Shuso aims to unite the tangible and intangible aspects of technique and spirit through the act of playing the instrument called hohchiku. This work contains eight Dao pieces, including "Shika no Tohne," which is also performed by other sects. The commentary within the spread describes "avant-garde music" and "avant-garde philosophy" in Dao pieces, which is very interesting.
