Hugh Davies
Shozyg - Music for Invented Instruments
FMP (Germany) 1982
SAJ-36 (LP)
sleeve : EX-(TEOC, some wear on edge and corner.)
media : EX/EX(some slightly surface noises.)

Hugh Davies is a British musician who has created unique music with his own electroacoustic instruments, including his participation in Karlheinz Stockhausen's "Mikrophonie" released in the mid to late 160's, and his compositions for Revue OU, an avant-garde magazine led by Henri Chopin. The album was produced by Jost Gebers, the founder of FMP, and released on his label in 1982. All four tracks were recorded live at the Claxon Geluid Festival in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and the Workshop Freie Musik in Berlin, Germany, in 1979. The sound is mysterious from beginning to end, created by a special form of self-made instrument that looks like strings stretched over a table. It sounds like a music concrete, but the fact that it is all improvised is amazing.
