Hugo Blanco
Lo Mejor
Sonografica (Venezuela) 1982
10042 (LP)
sleeve : EX(IN SHRINK, SOC, wear on corner.)
media : EX+/EX+(some slightly noise.)
An album released in 1982 by Hugo Blanco, one of Venezuela’s most celebrated musicians. The opening track, “Moliendo Café”, written and composed by his uncle José Manzo Perroni and performed by Blanco, became Venezuela’s most famous song worldwide. In Japan, it gained popularity under the title “Coffee Rumba”—though, interestingly, its rhythm is not actually a rumba, but rather a style called Orquidea, which Blanco himself created. Featuring the lively Orquidea rhythm and a beautiful interplay of harp and strings, as heard on tracks like A2 and A5, this album offers a wonderful taste of Venezuelan popular music.
A2: Agua Fresca
A5: Playa Colorada
