An album released in 2019 by Jonny Nash, a leader in contemporary ambient music. While living in Japan, he contributed to the revival of Italo disco and cosmic disco as a member of the DJ team Discossession. After returning to Europe, he founded the label Melody As Truth and is now based in Amsterdam, where he has released numerous works of his own and by new talents such as Suzanne Kraft. The album features singer Laura Giavon and cellist Janie Wong. Inspired by the writings of Shusaku Endo, J.G. Ballard, and Cormac McCarthy, the entire album presents deep ambient music with simple melodies quietly floating through a three-dimensional soundscape, highly acclaimed even as contemporary music. The photograph, which seems to be swallowed by darkness, is by Bianca Brunner, and I remember it hanging in Jonny's room when he lived in London 10 years ago.
