This is an album released on Blue Note in 1961 by Kenny Drew, an American pianist who moved from the USA to Europe in the 1960s and gained a high reputation. It features a quintet formation with Freddie Hubbard (tp), Hank Mobley (ts), Sam Jones (b), Louis Hayes (ds) and other talented musicians who supported Blue Note at the time. Drew's piano playing, which is very fine and fluid, has been further refined since the 1970s, and even during the bop period, glimpses of it can be heard on tracks such as the title track A1, which has a great sense of speed and is played by Hubbard and Mobley, and B2, which blues in a gentle groove. This is a Japanese reissue released on Toshiba EMI's 'Blue Note LP Last Reissue' in 1989.
A1: Undercurrent
B2: Groovin’ The Blues
