This is a collaborative album released in 1968 by American saxophonist Lee Konitz and French pianist Martial Solal, who were at the forefront of the music scene for a long time from the early 50s to the 2000s. It was recorded in Rome, Italy, in the same year, and features French avant-jazz giants Henry Texier (b) and Daniel Humair (ds) as sidemen, which is very noteworthy. The album is a masterpiece of very cutting-edge free jazz, which for a moment seems to be a typical hard bop, but then it turns into a masterpiece with electrified alto saxophone, unexpected phrasing on piano, flexible rhythmic bass and drums, and improvisation in every direction. A masterpiece. The bass solo by Texier is also very cool.
