This is a masterpiece of contemporary/modern classical electronics by German New Age synthesist Kurt Reimann, released in 1984 on Innovative Communication, the label founded by Klaus Schulze. The album features synthesizer interpretations of works ranging from early classical composers such as Handel and Bach to modern masters like Erik Satie and Ravel, yet the sound is utterly dreamy—evoking nothing less than Disneyland’s Electrical Parade or It’s a Small World. The standout is, of course, Reimann’s rendition of Erik Satie’s “Gymnopédie,” and the B-side is entirely devoted to a 14-minute-plus interpretation of Ravel’s “Boléro,” unfolding in a blissfully dreamlike state. Highly recommended.

A3: Gymnopedie
B1: Bolero
