A double-album dedicated to his mother by trumpeter Lester Bowie, leader of Art Ensemble of Chicago, a group synonymous with free/experimental jazz. Released in 1983 by ECM, Germany's cutting-edge jazz label. The first disc features a band with Ari Brown (ts, ss), Art Matthews (p), Fred Williams (b), Phillip Wilson (ds), Fontella Bass (vo), and David Peaston (vo), delivering high-quality jazz that traces Lester Bowie's roots, from warm New Orleans-style jazz to free jazz. The second disc contains numerous abstract trumpet solos by Lester Bowie. The experimental, avant-garde playing, such as sticking the trumpet into water to make bubble sounds or placing it inside a grand piano's body, is incredibly wild. This is a Japanese pressing with an obi, distributed by Trio-Kenwood, with excellent sound quality.
