An album released by New York-based label Composers Recording Inc., which has released over 600 titles of classical/contemporary music, primarily works by American composers such as Henry Partch and Henry Cowell, featuring works by Argentinian-American composer Mario Davidovsky and American composer/flutist Harvey Sollberger. The B-side, Harvey Sollberger's "Chamber Variations," is an ensemble for percussion and wind instruments performed by 12 members of The Group for Contemporary Music, which he formed in 1962 under the direction of Gunter Schuller at Columbia University. The main highlight is Mario Davidovsky's "Three Synchronisms" on the A-side. This three-part piece, composed between 1963 and 1965, is a fascinating work that challenges the synchronicity of flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and electronics. The sharp, cracking electronic sounds that weave through the acoustic instruments are captivating. This early electronic music is a must-listen alongside Don Cherry and John Appleton's eccentric masterpiece "Human Music," which was also featured in the guidebook "OBSCURE SOUND REVISED EDITION." This is a stereo pressing released in the 70s.
