Brazilian singer Maria de Fatima, who has contributed to works by Milton Nascimento, Dom Um Romao, Arthur Verocai, and Gilberto Gil, and also participated as a backing vocalist in Opa—the group led by her husband, Uruguayan keyboardist Hugo Fattoruso—released her only solo album in 1981 on the Uruguayan label Sondor. Alongside Hugo, the album features contributions from renowned Uruguayan musicians such as his brother Osvaldo Fattoruso, Pippo Spera, and Jorge Graff. The album includes original compositions by Fatima as well as songs by some of Brazil’s greatest singer-songwriters—Nascimento, Gil, Caetano Veloso, Denis Brean, and Ary Barroso—resulting in an MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) work filled with deep saudade. While it reflects a profound love for bossa nova, it also distinctly incorporates candombe rhythms, giving it a uniquely Uruguayan character.
The record surface is relatively clean with no visible scratches, but there are several small, recessed pressing defects, and some sections have noticeable crackle and popping noise.
